Joomla! plugins are a small, task-oriented functions that intercept content before it is displayed and manipulate it in some way. Joomla! provides a number of Plugins in the core distribution, but there are many other plugins available for specific tasks. Some 3rd Party developer components have their own plugins which need to be installed in order to make the component work properly.
